On March 13, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a distressed adult female observed running on the railroad tracks in the Mission Gardens neighbourhood.
Before arrival, East District General Patrol officers were informed the female had climbed onto a parked locomotive engine and accessed a hammer from a toolbox. She repeatedly struck the locomotive's window, causing approximately $1,500 in damage. The conductor, noting the female's erratic behaviour, locked the door to the cab to prevent her from entering. Nobody was injured.
Officers located the female on CN Rail Line property between Plessis Road and Bournais Drive and placed her under arrest.
She was conveyed to police headquarters; however, due to escalating erratic behaviour while in custody and out of medical concern, she was transported to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
A 22-year-old female of Winnipeg was charged with Mischief Under $5,000 and issued a Provincial Offence Act document for Trespassing Railway Property. She was detained in custody.
