On March 6, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers from the Winnipeg Police Service’s North District conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Mountain Avenue when a vehicle took off at a high rate of speed.

The driver was identified and had an outstanding warrant for violating parole conditions. While speaking to the passenger, a Sig Saur and a Glock-style air pistol and ammunition were observed in the vehicle.

As a result of this investigation, the driver and the passenger were taken into custody, and approximately $600 worth of methamphetamine and fentanyl were seized along with the guns.  

Blaine Thadeus HARPER (26) of Winnipeg has been charged with ten drug trafficking and firearm-related offences. He was detained in custody, and the passenger was released without charges.

On March 7, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers from the North District responded to the report of a threat with a firearm in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue.

An adult male was outside moving his vehicle from the snow route when a taxi pulled up, and three unknown people exited. One of the passengers (a male), without provocation, pointed a handgun at the victim and uttered threatening comments. The victim safely made it back to his house and contacted police. The three suspects fled, and police subsequently located them at a nearby residence, where they were taken into custody.

A sawed-off rifle, BB handgun, a replica handgun and ammunition were seized.

Four individuals are facing firearm-related offences:

Two females, 24 and 36, both detained in custody.

A male, 29, detained in custody.

A male, 25, released on an Undertaking.
