The Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit is requesting public assistance in locating an adult male wanted in connection with a lengthy attempted murder investigation stemming from an incident that occurred on November 25, 2021, in the 100 block of Furby Street.

Investigators had previously identified the victims as a 35-year-old male and a 29-year-old male, both of Winnipeg. Both victims had sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds during the incident and were transported to hospital in critical condition. An adult male suspect fled before police arrived. Both victims were discharged from hospital after recovering from their injuries.

The Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation. After consultations with the Manitoba Prosecution Service, charges of Attempt Murder x 2 and multiple firearm-related charges, including Discharge Firearm with Intent against 28-year-old Yusuf Abdulqadir ALI, were authorized.

Efforts to locate ALI have been met with negative results and investigators are requesting assistance from the public.

- ALI is a black male, 6’3” in height, weighs approximately 235 lbs., and has a medium build.

- ALI is gang-affiliated and involved in the drug subculture

As previously released:

On November 25, 2021, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a residence in the 100 block of Furby Street for a report of shots fired. Responding officers located two adult males within the home, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers quickly provided emergency medical care applying tourniquets to both victims. They were transported to hospital by ambulance in critical condition but have since been upgraded to stable. No additional information is available at this time.

This incident is being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
