Update:

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit continues to investigate the attempted murder of a 27-year-old female victim, which occurred over a significant period at a residence on Carlton Street on December 10, 2023.

On December 26, investigators requested public assistance locating 40-year-old Evelyn McKAY of Winnipeg regarding her involvement in the incident.

On January 30, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the Sex Crimes Unit, assisted by members of the Child Exploitation Unit, located McKAY in the 500 block of Jubilee Avenue and placed her under arrest on the strength of the warrant in her name for Robbery, and Forcible Confinement.

She remains in police custody.

The Sex Crimes Unit thanks the public and the media for their continued assistance during their investigation. No further arrests are anticipated.

On December 10, 2023, at approximately 4:10 p.m., officers responded to a Winnipeg hospital regarding the report of an assault where an adult female was being examined and treated for numerous physical injuries.

It was reported to WPS investigators that a 27-year-old female was forced to attend a location on Carlton Street where she was physically assaulted, resulting in her losing consciousness, and that she was bound for a significant period of time.

It was further reported to WPS investigators that the suspects eventually forced the female, who was still restrained, into a dumpster, where she was abandoned. Her screams for help were heard when she was assisted and freed.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of these individuals is asked to call 911, investigators at 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
