On January 14, at approximately 11:44 p.m., West District members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s Community Support Unit were parked in their police vehicle in the eastbound parking lane of Silver Avenue near Albany Street when a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire traveling westbound suddenly swerved and collided with the police vehicle.
The collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles. Officers attended to the adult female driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, who sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident. Officers summoned an ambulance to attend to assess the driver. She was transported to hospital for further evaluation and subsequently medically cleared.
The officers were uninjured as a result of the collision.
A 32-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or Combination of Both
- Fail or Refuse to comply with Demand
She was released via an Appearance Notice.
