In October 2023, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit received information about a sexually exploitative relationship that occurred between an adult hockey coach and a player between 2019 and 2021.
The accused coached within the organization of Hockey Manitoba from 2018-2023.
The information obtained by investigators was that the accused forged an inappropriate sexual relationship by grooming and gaining the trust of the survivor. The coach was in her 20s, and the survivor was in her teens. Although the offences began while the survivor was being coached by the accused, the coercion and abuse continued after she stopped playing hockey.
On November 9, 2023, a 28-year-old female, Madison BILUK of Winnipeg, was charged with the following 15 offences:
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Exploitation
- Sexual Interference
- Invitation to Sexual Touching
- Luring a Person Under 16 years of age by Means of Telecommunication
- Luring a Person Under 18 years of age by Means of Telecommunication x 2
- Transmit, Make Available, Distribute or Sell Sexually Explicit Material to a Person Under 16yrs
- Transmit, Make Available, Distribute or Sell Sexually Explicit Material to a Person Under 18yrs x 2
- Makes, Prints, Publishes or Poss for the Purpose of Publication any Child Pornography
- Imports, Distributes, Sells or Poss for the Purpose of Distribution or Sale any Child Pornography
- Possession of Child Pornography
- Assault with a Weapon
- Assault
She was released by way of Crown-authorized conditions.
