On November 6, 2023, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the Health Sciences Centre for the report of an injured adult male who had attended following a stabbing.

General Patrol officers attended the hospital and confirmed a 40-year-old male victim was currently receiving emergency medical care for a serious upper-medical injury. He was later upgraded to stable condition.

Through their investigation, officers linked a suspect and a related address on Pritchard Avenue, where they believe the assault originated. During their investigation, the suspect attended the hospital, and officers quickly arrested him without incident.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and learned the suspect attended to the residence in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue to speak to one of the residents who was not present. The suspect engaged in a verbal confrontation with two other residents unknown to him, which escalated to a physical altercation. During the physical altercation, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the male victim, resulting in a serious upper-body injury. The suspect subsequently proceeded to damage the vehicle of a 34-year-old female victim before she and the injured male victim fled to attend a hospital for medical assistance.

The suspect and victim are not previously known to one another.
