On October 19, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., patrolling Central Community Support Unit members of the Winnipeg Police Service observed a parked stolen vehicle occupied by two individuals in the 600 block of Portage Avenue.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and arrested the adult male driver and an adult female passenger without incident. A search of the driver produced the following property, which officers seized as evidence:
- Approximately 177 grams of Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $17,700)
- Approximately 7.6 grams of Crack Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $760)
- Tec3 Prescription Pills x 25 (Estimated Street Value = $500)
- Approximately $200 (assorted denomination)
The stolen vehicle, a 2018 Kia Rio, was previously reported stolen to the Selkirk RCMP on October 18, 2023.
A 38-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – COCAINE
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Scale
He was released on an Appearance Notice and Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
Officers released the female passenger with no charges.
