Shooting – C23-238558

On October 1, 2023, at approximately 1:00 p.m., General Patrol officers and the Tactical Support Team responded to a shooting incident in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue. The victim, a male in his 30s, was transported to hospital in unstable condition and upgraded to stable. No arrests have been made at this time, and the Major Crimes Unit is continuing with the investigation.

Stabbing – C23-238031

On September 30, 2023, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a victim who had been stabbed and attended a local hospital for treatment. The male in his 50s was treated for serious injuries and later upgraded. An initial investigation determined the incident occurred in the Vimy Park area. The Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate; no suspects have been arrested.

Stabbing – C23-239293

On October 2, 2023, at approximately 11:15 a.m., General Patrol officers and the Tactical Support Team responded to the report of a stabbing incident in the 500 block of Langside Street. A victim in her 40s was transported to hospital in unstable condition and upgraded to stable. No arrests have been made at this time, and the Major Crimes Unit is continuing with the investigation.

Bomb – C23-239378

On October 2, 2023, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of what appeared to be an explosive device inside a storage locker in the Whittier neighbourhood. The reporting person had recently taken over the abandoned storage space, discovered the device and contacted police. The Bomb Unit attended and confirmed the device was not live, there was no risk to public safety, and the device was safely removed. The Major Crimes Unit will continue this investigation.

Weapons – C23-237238

On September 29, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., General Patrol members from the Central District responded to the Forks Market, where two security guards were sprayed with bear spray by a group of teen suspects who fled on foot. Two of the suspects were taken into custody nearby. A canister of bear spray and a machete were seized during the arrest. A 14-year-old male is facing weapons-related charges and was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.

Robbery – C23-238247

On October 1, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., General Patrol members from the Central District responded to the Forks Market for the report of a robbery. Two security guards were confronted and assaulted by 3-4 adult males. During the altercation, one of the victims was robbed of his phone and was subsequently transported to hospital in stable condition. Two males in their 20s were located by police and are facing assault and robbery charges. They were both released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
