Update:

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Traffic Division continued its investigation into a fatal motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Inkster Boulevard and King Edward Street on December 10, 2022.

Through their investigation, investigators determined the suspect was operating a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 westbound on Inkster Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he ran through a marked red traffic signal and collided with a 2014 Toyota Rav4 turning northbound on King Edward Street from the east bound lane of Inkster Avenue. The impact of the collision caused serious injuries to the 42-year-old female operator of the Toyota Rav4 from which she succumbed. The suspect was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Investigators believe that manner of driving and alcohol to be the major contributing factors in the collision which resulted in the victim’s death.

On August 8, 2023, after an extensive investigation,  Nicholas Primo BALDOVI, 21, of Winnipeg turned himself in to police. He has been charged with the following offences:

- Causing Death by Criminal Negligence

- Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both (Drive Impaired Causing Death)

- Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both (Drive Over .08 Causing Death)

He was detained in custody.

 

As previously released:

On December 10, 2022, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Inkster Boulevard and King Edward Street, with WFPS personnel already on scene.

Officers from the North District attended and learned that a yet-to-be-identified adult female driver of one of the involved vehicles succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision. The 21-year-old male driver of the second involved vehicle was transported to hospital in stable condition and treated for his injuries.

Members of the Traffic Division have assumed the investigation.
