Update:

The Homicide Unit continued its investigation into the stabbing death of an adult male in the 200 block of Furby Street on August 5, 2023.

Investigators have now identified the victim as 50-year-old George Nickolas DEMOS of Winnipeg, and notifications to the family have been made.

Investigators have arrested two suspects involved in the incident.

On August 5, investigators arrested 23-year-old Jonathan Michael GLADUE of Winnipeg. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder and remains in custody.

Investigators also arrested a 17-year-old male from Winnipeg who faces the charge of Second Degree Murder. He was detained in custody as mandated by the Criminal Code.

The Homicide Unit continues to investigate the incident. Anyone with information or residential/commercial video surveillance footage that may assist investigators is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS.

 

As previously released:

On August 5, 2023, at approximately 3:20 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the rear lane in the 200 block of Furby Street for a report of a male who had been stabbed.

Central and West District officers attended and located an unresponsive 50-year-old adult male who had been stabbed. Officers provided emergency medical care for the victim before he was transported to hospital in critical condition; however, he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect(s) fled before police arrived.

The Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information or residential/commercial video surveillance footage that may assist investigators is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS.
