On July 15, after a series of firearm-related incidents, following a pursuit into East St. Paul and back to the city, two males in their 20s were arrested.
At approximately 1:00 a.m., a victim in his 20s was robbed by two suspects at a beer vendor in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street. He was physically assaulted and had a gun pointed at him. The trigger was pulled, but the gun did not fire. The two suspects fled the area in a vehicle, and police were contacted.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., the suspects were driving in the Mynarski neighbourhood when they shot out the windshield of a parked vehicle and again fled in the vehicle.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., the vehicle was observed driving in the area of Mountain Avenue and Arlington Street when spotted by police in the area. The suspect vehicle took off at a high rate of speed, driving in an unsafe manner and collided with a vehicle driving near Main Street and Chief Peguis.
This collision caused significant damage to the other vehicle, and the suspect vehicle continued to escape while driving on only three wheels.
The suspects entered the R.M. of East St. Paul and abandoned the vehicle. While continuing their escape on foot, they disposed of two firearms in a retention pond, which the Winnipeg Police Service Dive Unit later recovered.
Once in East St. Paul, they stole a vehicle parked at a residence and drove away, continuing to evade police, as the RCMP was also aware of this incident. Now back in the city near Main Street and Hartford Avenue, the suspect vehicle collided with a parked pick-up truck, rendering both vehicles undrivable.
In the first 100 block of Semple Avenue, the suspects attempted to rob a driver of his keys but were unsuccessful and fled on foot. Police located and apprehended the two in the first 100 block of Smithfield.
Keenan Robert David HENRY (22) was charged with 14 firearm, robbery and driving-related offences.
Trenton Lee GLADU (24) was charged with 9 firearm, robbery and driving-related offences.
They were both detained in custody.
