On June 17, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a group was in the Graham Avenue and Fort Street area when a fight broke out. The confrontation escalated and a 14-year-old male stabbed a 17-year-old male multiple times. A 15-year-old female also became involved in the melee. Bystanders called 911 and provided first-aid to the injured male until police arrived.

Police continued emergency medical care for the 17-year-old victim, who was transported by ambulance to hospital in critical condition.

The Major Crimes Unit initially took over the investigation. It was determined that after leaving a concert downtown, the victim intervened in a confrontation and was stabbed by the suspect (not believed to have attended the concert).

On June 21, 2023, the victim succumbed to his injuries and members of the Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

A 14-year-old male has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and detained in custody.  

A 15-year-old female is facing the following charges and released: Assault with a Weapon x 2.

On June 17, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., General Patrol officers from the Central District responded to Fort Street and Graham Avenue for an assaulted teenage male. Bystanders called 911 and provided first-aid to the injured male until police arrived.

Police continued emergency medical care for the 17-year-old victim, who was transported by ambulance to hospital in critical condition, where he remains in guarded condition.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation. It was determined that after leaving a concert downtown, the victim intervened in a confrontation between unknown individuals and was seriously assaulted.

No arrests have been made, and investigators continue to seek suspect information.
