On June 4, 2023, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to Marbury Road and Jefferson Avenue for the report of a male youth who was stabbed.
North District General Patrol officers located a 14-year-old male victim suffering from upper body injuries sustained from a stabbing. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition, receiving medical attention for his injuries. The suspects fled before police arrived.
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and learned that two groups of youths were passengers on a transit bus traveling from the St.James area when a verbal dispute ensued. Both groups disembarked at Marbury Road and Jefferson Avenue, where the verbal dispute escalated to a physical assault. During the assault, one of the suspects produced a sharp-edged weapon and stabbed the victim in the upper body, causing significant injuries. Due to the extent of the injuries, the victim will require subsequent surgery.
The Major Crimes Unit requests public assistance in identifying the suspect involved in the incident.
