Update:

The Homicide Unit continues investigating Lori GORDON's murder in the 400 block of Beverley Street and a shooting incident occurring on March 7. Investigators have determined both incidents to be related and involved a total of six victims and one fatality

On April 13, 2023, investigators arrested a 17-year-old male from Winnipeg in connection with the incident. He faces the following charges:

- Second Degree Murder
- Attempt to Commit Murder x 5
- Aggravated Assault x 5
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Discharge of Firearm with Intent

He was detained in custody.

Homicide investigators have identified 18-year-old Martin Faruq LUTHER of Winnipeg as a second involved suspect. He remains at large, and a Warrant for Second Degree Murder has been issued for his arrest.

He is described as Black, 5’11” with a thin build.

LUTHER is considered armed and dangerous and is not to be approached. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact Homicide investigators at 204-986-6508, Crime Stoppers at 204-786 TIPS (8477), or 911.

As previously released:

On March 7, 2023, at approximately 2:15 a.m., General Patrol officers from the Central and East District, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, responded to a report of a shooting in the 600 block of Spence Street.  

Upon arrival, police ensured the safety of the surrounding area and located three individuals suffering from gunshot injuries within a residential suite and a fourth victim nearby. Officers performed emergency medical care, including the use of chest seals.

Two males in their twenties and two in their thirties were transported to hospital in unstable condition. Three victims have been upgraded to stable condition, while one remains in guarded condition.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over this investigation, and no arrests have been made at this time.

As previously released:

On March 7, 2023, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a media release regarding a shooting in the 400 block of Beverley Street. Two females were located with gunshot wounds, one deceased and the other transported to hospital.

With the assistance of the K9 Unit, General Patrol members arrived on scene and ensured safety in the area. Two adult victims were located with gunshot wounds. One female was deceased, and a second victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition.

The deceased victim has now been identified as a 49-year-old female, Lori GORDON of Winnipeg. The second victim, a 35-year-old female, has been upgraded to stable condition.
