Update:

The Homicide Unit continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 33-year-old Linda Mary Beardy. Tips provided by the public assisted in establishing a timeline for Linda's whereabouts before she was discovered deceased on April 3, 2023.

On April 3, with the assistance of video surveillance, Linda was observed alone and climbing into a commercial refuse bin near a retail store in the 2200 block of  Pembina Highway at approximately 11:00 a.m. At no point was she observed exiting the bin. After a few hours, a commercial collection truck picked up the bin and emptied its contents into the truck and drove away.

The truck emptied its contents at Brady Road Resource Management Facility, and an employee on site discovered Linda's deceased body shortly after.

She was transported to hospital, and the Landfill was put on operational pause for investigation.

On April 4, a post-mortem examination was conducted and determined there was no evidence of foul play.

The Homicide Unit and the Winnipeg Police Service's Family Resource and Support Advocate have shared this information with Linda's family and Indigenous leadership and will continue to offer support.

The Winnipeg Police Service is open to follow-up on any other information or tips regarding Linda. The Homicide Unit (as they still maintain this investigation) can be contacted at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS (8477).
