Update:

The Winnipeg Police Service continues to seek the public’s assistance to identify a suspect in an assault early morning on March 17 in front of the Provincial Court Law Courts Building (near the Kennedy Street entrance).

Additional images and a video capture a male, approximately 20-30 years old, with a medium build. He is wearing a black letterman-style jacket with a red/white emblem on his left chest, a green shirt, blue jeans, and black running shoes with white soles. He has a mustache, glasses and large headphones on his head with long dark hair.

Anyone with information about the identity of this suspect is asked to contact the Sex Crimes Unit at 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

As previously released:

On March 17, 2023, at approximately 7:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the Provincial Court Law Courts Building located at 408 York Avenue for the report of an adult female who was assaulted by an unknown male.

Central District General Patrol Officers met with the 20-year-old female victim suffering from an upper-body injury sustained from a physical assault. She was transported to hospital in stable condition, where she received medical care.

The victim was walking from St. Mary Avenue and Kennedy Street to the Provincial Court Law Courts Building at approximately 5:45 a.m. when an unknown male began to follow her. As the victim reached the Kennedy Street entrance of the building, the suspect approached the victim and a struggle ensued. The victim fell to the sidewalk, and the suspect touched the victim on the lower body. The suspect fled on foot before police arrived
