Update:
On March 12, 2023, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Homicide Unit, with the assistance of the North District Community Support Unit, arrested a teenage male for the shooting-related homicide of a 15-year-old male in St. James on March 6.
Investigators determined that the deceased and his 17-year-old brother were involved in an altercation with an unknown group of males in the 300 block of Sackville Street. A shooting took place where both victims were struck, and the suspects fled.
The victims made their way to a residence in the 200 block of Amherst Street, where they encountered a 17-year-old male known to them. He was armed with a gun, and a subsequent shooting transpired, where the 15-year-old was critically injured.
A 17-year-old youth male of Winnipeg, has been charged with Manslaughter and detained in custody.

On March 6, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 200 block of Amherst Street, where they located two youths who had been shot.
Two youths were located with gunshot wounds. A 17-year-old male was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.
A 15-year-old male was transported to hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries. The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
