As previously released:

On December 11, 2022, at approximately 4:40 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the Millennium Library located at 251 Donald Street for the report of a male who had been stabbed.

Foot Patrol and General Patrol officers from the Central District attended and located an adult male victim suffering from a stabbing. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced deceased. Three male youths have been arrested and placed in police custody.

The Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation.

Update:

Members of the Homicide Unit continued the investigation. Investigators have now identified the victim as 28-year-old Tyree CAYER of Winnipeg.

Investigators learned the suspects and the victim became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated with the suspects physically assaulting the victim. During the assault, the victim was stabbed by one of the suspects resulting in serious injury. Emergency services provided medical care to the victim; however, he succumbed to his injuries. All suspects fled on foot before police arrived.

Investigators have identified three suspects and subsequently arrested three male youths without incident.

A 15-year-old male youth and a 16-year-old male, both from Winnipeg, are facing the following charge:

- Manslaughter

A 14-year-old male youth from Winnipeg is facing the following charge:

- Second Degree Murder

They remain in police custody.

The Homicide Unit is continuing the investigation and anticipates further arrest(s).
