On October 31, 2022, at 3:11 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of a carjacking that had occurred in the first 100 block of Marion Street.
It is believed that at approximately 1:15 a.m., a male victim (in his 20s) had been at a gas station when he was robbed of his SUV by a male suspect armed with bear spray. The victim walked a significant distance to get home, at which time he contacted police.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., a Central District General Patrol unit, aware of the carjacking, observed the stolen vehicle travelling in the West Alexander neighbourhood.
Soon after, officers stopped the SUV near Sherbrook Street and Ross Avenue. Three occupants were taken into custody, including the driver (Eastman-Moore). In addition, a can of bear spray was seized from within the vehicle.
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.
Darrell Joshua Eastman-Moore, an 18-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Robbery
- Possession of a Weapon
He was detained.
The other two occupants were released without charges.
