On October 15, 2022, at 8:33 p.m., Central District General Patrol members, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, responded to the first 100 block of Donald Street for a report of a male that had been assaulted and left lying on the ground.

Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious male being tended to by two off-duty doctors. The male was subsequently transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.

It was determined that a group had been stealing items from a nearby convenience store when they were confronted by the business owners (a male in his 60s & a female in her 50s). An altercation ensued, and both owners were assaulted before the suspects fled.

The male victim suffered life-altering injuries and remains hospitalized. The female victim endured minor injuries.

During the evening of October 18, 2022, two suspects were located in the first 100 block of Mayfair Place and taken into custody.

A 51-year-old male and a 39-year-old female, both of Winnipeg, are facing charges of:

- Robbery
- Aggravated Assault

They were each released on an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
