On September 29, 2022, at 3:34 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of Sherbrook Street for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located an injured male (in his 50s) outside a residential building. He was subsequently transported to a hospital in critical condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.

It is believed that a group had forced their way into a suite when the victim was sprayed with bear spray and shot.

At 4:38 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the first 100 block of Westgrove Way for a report of a male armed with a firearm. Bear spray had also been discharged inside a house.

Numerous people, including several small children, were affected by the bear spray but did not require medical attention.

It is believed that a group had forced their way into the residence when a female victim (in her 30s) had a firearm pointed at her, and a demand was made for her property.

At approximately 6:40 a.m., officers still on scene in the first 100 block of Westgrove Way observed a male suspect in the area and took him into custody.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the matter.
