On September 26, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 700 block of Wellington Avenue for the report of an injured animal.
Officers from the Central District attended and located an adult female and an eight-month-old kitten under her care suffering from severe bodily injuries. Officers arrested the adult female without incident and transported the injured kitten to a veterinary hospital, where emergency surgery was performed. The kitten required euthanization due to its injuries.
Officers believe the kitten had sustained its injuries from being stabbed. Officers also believe substance abuse played a factor in the incident.
A 29-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing the following charge:
- Killing or Injuring Animals
