On July 30, 2022, at approximately 11:30 p.m, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to 1 Forks Market Road for the report of a fight involving numerous individuals.

Officers from the Central District, including General Patrol and Community Support Unit members, attended to the CN Stage and Field when they observed 10-15 people flee the area. The involved parties were stopped; however, one male suspect continued to run from officers, holding what is believed to be a handgun and carrying a shoulder bag.

With assistance from the Tactical Support Unit, officers engaged in a foot pursuit with the suspect male. A supervising officer acquired the suspect running through an adjacent surface parking lot and placed him in custody without incident. The following items were seized as evidence:

- Large hunting knife
- Backpack containing over 206 grams of Cannabis (Estimated Street Value of $1186)

Investigators believe the suspect discarded the firearm and bag during the foot pursuit. Officers retraced the pursuit route and found the discarded bag, which was found to contain a combination brass knuckle/edged weapon. The firearm remains outstanding.

A 16-year-old male youth of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon
- Young Person Possess more than the Equivalent of 5 grams Dried Cannabis (Cannabis Act)

He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
