On May 10, 2022, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a stabbing at a residence in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue.
Officers located a 16-year-old female who had not been stabbed but had sustained a gunshot wound to her lower body. She was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition. An adult male was taken into custody.
The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation. Investigators determined that the accused and the victim were previously known, and the accused accidentally discharged a firearm, striking the female.
Ahmed Immad PATIENCE, 19, of Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Pointing a Firearm
- Careless Use of Firearm
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking x 2
He was detained in custody.
