Update:
On February 1, 2022, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Shane Christopher David Delaronde, a 24-year-old male of Winnipeg, was located and placed under arrest at a residence in the East Elmwood neighbourhood.
Delaronde was the subject of an arrest warrant for Aggravated Assault and weapon-related offences for his alleged role in a serious stabbing that occurred on January 24 in the 200 block of Portage Avenue.
He has been detained in custody. We thank the public and the media for their assistance.
As previously released:
On January 24, 2022, at 11:33 p.m., General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, responded to a hotel in the 200 block of Portage Avenue for a report of a male found with severe injuries as a result of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers began to provide emergency medical care to the victim—who was identified as a male in his 20's. He was subsequently transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable condition, where he remains.
Investigators in the Major Crimes Unit determined that several people had attended the suite for a drinking party. A verbal argument occurred between the victim and a few other people in attendance. The situation escalated into a physical fight between the victim and two other males resulting in the victim being stabbed. The two suspects fled the suite, at which point the remaining occupants saw the victim's injuries and contacted the police.
On January 25, 2022, Tristan Thomas Ross, a 25-year-old male of Winnipeg, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Fail to Comply Probation Order
Investigators have identified another suspect in this assault: Shane Christopher David Delaronde, a 24-year-old male of Winnipeg.
A warrant has been issued for Aggravated Assault and weapon-related offences.
