On April 8, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 500 block of Mountain Avenue for the report of an adult male who had been shot.

Attending North District General Patrol officers, assisted by members of K9 and Tactical Support Units, located a 20-year-old victim in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided the victim with emergency medical care by applying a chest seal. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and learned the victim and suspects arranged to meet in the 200 block of Battery Street to complete a firearm purchase. The meeting had been prearranged via an online firearm brokerage classified website. When the victim became suspicious of the suspects’ behaviour, one of the suspects produced a firearm and discharged multiple rounds into the victim’s vehicle as he began to drive away. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds as a result of the firearm discharge. The suspects fled before police arrived.

Investigators have obtained the following partial descriptions of the suspects:

Suspect 1:

- A white male in his 20’s

- Wearing a white hooded sweater

Suspect 2:

- A male in his 30’s

- Wearing dark clothing

- Carrying a long gun
