On February 7, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service (WFPS) and the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded to a serious fire engulfing two vacant residences in the 500 block of Balmoral Street.

Both properties were destroyed, and the fire was determined to be set on purpose.

WPS Major Crimes Unit continued investigating and later identified three suspects.

On April 1, 2024, a 13 and 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old female were taken into custody and are facing the following charges:

- Arson Causing Damage to Property x 2

- Possession of Incendiary Material

All three were released on an Undertaking per the Criminal Code and turned over to adult custody.

Nobody was injured during these incidents.
