In November 2023, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit entered into an investigation regarding a series of Break & Enter incidents and thefts from Commercial Properties within the city.
An adult suspect believed to be involved in the following incidents was identified through their investigations.
Incident Synopsis:
November 5, 2023 – The suspect pried open the outer door to a business in the 1500 block of Gamble Place and broke into an office door. The suspect left and re-attended later, stealing property valued at approximately $8,500.
November 19, 2023 – The suspect pried the entry door of a pharmacy in the 1000 block of Lorimer Boulevard and stole an assortment of medications. Approximately 45 minutes later, the suspect attended to a separate business in the same complex and stole $150 in CDN funds.
November 27, 2023 – The suspect entered an employee entrance of a grocery store in the sub-100 block of Alpine Avenue and broke into a locked cash office. The suspect fled with $1,500 in CDN funds.
December 21, 2023 – The suspect used a break-in instrument to enter a business office in the 400 block of Marion Street. A company cheque valued at 0f $25,000 was stolen during the incident.
December 25, 2023 – The suspect damaged a glass entry door of a hotel in the 300 block of Waterfront Drive and stole an employee’s handbag containing personal property.
December 26, 2023 – The suspect attended a business office in the sub-100 block of Lombard Avenue and stole property, including a company cheque book, bank cards, and a cash box containing $144.50.
January 2, 2024 – The suspect used a break-in instrument to enter a business office in the 900 block of Waverley Street, stealing two laptops and make-up totaling approximately $2,200.
January 24, 2024 – The suspect pried open the front entry door of a business in the 500 block of Century Street and stole Air Pods and two company credit cards.
January 28, 2024 – The suspect forced entry to a law office in the sub-100 block of Lombard Avenue; however was escorted out by security, and nothing was stolen.
January 30, 2024 – The suspect used a break-in instrument to enter a business in the 1500 block of Willson Place and attended to the basement. The suspect stole and left with power tools valued at approximately $600. Later the same day, the suspect entered a business in the 1500 block of Gamble Place but fled after triggering the audible alarm.
On February 22 and February 23, respectively, two unendorsed warrants were issued for 38-year-old Michael Paul KOROSCIL of Winnipeg.
The Major Crimes Unit continued their investigation and, on March 2, 2024, located KOROSCIL in the 600 block of Main Street, where investigators arrested him after a short foot pursuit.
KOROSCIL is charged with 42 offences, including Break Enter & Theft Place, Possession of Break In Instruments, and Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order.
He was detained in custody.
