Interprovincial 3D-Printed Firearms Investigation – Arrest: R23-27101

In November 2022, The Montreal Integrated Arms Trafficking Team (EILTA), an integrated police unit in the Province of Quebec, led an interprovincial investigation dubbed Project Reproduction regarding the online distribution of  3D-printed firearm components. The investigation involved a coordinated effort from multiple national, regional, and local law enforcement agencies, including the Winnipeg Police Service.

Through their investigation, EILTA investigators identified an adult male suspect residing in Winnipeg believed to be involved in the online purchase of 3D-printed firearms parts and summoned the Winnipeg Police Service to assist.

On June 20, 2023, members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s Firearms Investigation and Enforcement Unit, assisted by Guns & Gangs Unit members, attended a residence in the 100 block of Greenway Crescent to execute a search warrant. Investigators arrested the suspect near the residence without incident. 

Investigators conducted a search of the residence and seized the following property as evidence:

- 3D-Printed .22 calibre Firearm

- 3D-Printed 9mm Glock-style Handgun

- Derringer .32 calibre Revolver x 2

- 3D-Printed Lower Handgun Receivers x 2

- Sawed-off .22 calibre Firearm

- .50 calibre Muzzloader Firearm x 2

- Cooey Model 60 .22 caliber Rifle

- High capacity 9mm Magazine

- Ammunition

- 3D-Printed Hard Knuckles

- Assorted firearm components

- 3D Printer x 2

- Hard Body Armour

- 57 Grams of Psilocybin (Estimated Street Value =  $570)

A 21-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Weapons Trafficking x 4

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 7

- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations

- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

- Possession of a Weapon

- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon

- Possession of Body Armour Without a Valid Permit or in a Manner Inconsistent with the Valid Permit

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance - Psilocybin

He was detained in police custody.
