Buy & sell safety

Released: May 23, 2023 at 2:11 p.m.

In an effort to promote personal safety, we would like to remind the public about safety when buying and selling items.

The following Safety tips should help:

Complete all transactions during daylight hours, and in a public space. For example, all 4 Police stations have Buy and Sell Exchange Zones. They are safe places to do exchanges.  If the person selling or buying does not want to meet there, that should be a red flag.

Do not meet someone alone.

Don't give out your banking and or personal information.

Take screenshots of transactions and conversations.

Take only enough cash with you to pay for the item being purchased

Always trust your instincts. If something feels wrong it probably is.

Exchanges involving weapons or illegal items are not permitted. Suspected criminal activity should be reported to the police.
