During the weekend of October 15 and October 16, 2022, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to several stabbing-related incidents:
- C22-239696: On October 15, at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers from the Central District attended Ellice Avenue and Sherbrook Street for the report of a male who had been stabbed. Officers located a 31-year-old male victim suffering from upper body injuries described as superficial. He was transported to hospital in stable condition and treated for his injuries. It is believed several suspects approached the victim in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street, attacked him with an unknown object, and robbed him of his property before fleeing on foot. The Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
- C22-239698: On October 15, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers from the North District and the Tactical Support Unit attended to the 200 block of Stella Walk for the report of a male who had been stabbed. Officers located a 19-year-old male victim suffering from upper body injuries and provided emergency medical care using a chest seal. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition, where he remains after surgery. His injuries are described as non-life-threatening. It is believed the suspect approached the victim in the 800 block of Main Street and stabbed him in an unprovoked manner before fleeing on foot. The Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
- C22-239709: On October 15, at approximately 2:00 a.m, officers from the North District and the Tactical Support Unit attended to the 200 block of Austin Street for the report of a female who had been stabbed. Officers located a 35-year-old female suffering from a stab wound to her lower body. She was transported in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable. No arrests have been made, and the Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
- C22-240578: On October 16, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers from the Central District and the Tactical Support Unit attended the 100 block of Kate Street for the report of a male who had been stabbed. Officers located a 21-year-old male suffering upper-body injuries as a result of being stabbed. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable. No arrests have been made, and the victim declined further police assistance.
