On July 27, 2022, at 10:30 p.m., North District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit and AIR1, responded to the 1600 block of Main Street for a report of an assault. A passerby had observed a group of youths assaulting an older man on the ground.

Upon arrival, officers located a 68-year-old male victim and two male suspects. One male was arrested without incident, while the other attempted to flee on foot. The second suspect was uncooperative and was ultimately taken into custody with the assistance of a conducted energy weapon ("Taser").

The victim sustained several injuries due to the robbery and was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

North District General Patrol officers continued with the investigation. It is believed that the victim was previously unknown to the suspects, and he had been assaulted without provocation when the suspects asked for a cigarette. The victim was then robbed of his personal property.

Two males, a 14-year-old and a 20-year-old, both of Winnipeg, are facing charges of:

- Robbery

Both were released on Undertakings (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
