Firearm & Drug Offences – Arrests: C22-163335

On July 21, 2022, at approximately 11:25 p.m., a Central District General Patrol officer was searching a rear lane with his flashlight in the 300 block of Broadway (on an unrelated matter) when he was summoned over by a male sitting in the driver’s seat in a nearby parked vehicle.

The officer attended to the vehicle and observed the male driver to have a clear bag with a substance believed to be crack cocaine on his lap.

Other Central District General Patrol officers attended, and the driver and a female passenger were arrested and taken into custody. A third occupant, a male, attempted to run from the vehicle but was apprehended a short distance away. The male who tried to flee was found to be in possession of a loaded .45 calibre handgun.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a loaded 9mm handgun, a high-capacity magazine (containing 21 rounds of ammunition), approximately 19.1 grams of crack cocaine (estimated street value between $1,528 – $1,910), about 32 grams of cocaine (estimated street value between $2,560 – $3,200) and $884.25 in cash.

A 22-year-old male of Winnipeg faces charges of:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x2)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x2)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x3)
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x3)

A 20-year-old male of Winnipeg faces charges of:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x2)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x2)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking (x2)

A 28-year-old female of Winnipeg faces charges of:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x2)

All three remain in WPS custody at this time and will be detained. As they have not yet been formally charged, they cannot be named at this time.
