On July 10, 2022, at 2:50 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of an attempted robbery in the area of Mountain Avenue and Salter Street.

Two victims (a male in his 30s & a female in her 20s) reported they had been getting gas when they were confronted by a male armed with a gun. The male demanded property, but a struggle ensued, and he was disarmed. The victims were able to flee in their vehicle, and officers later recovered the firearm – a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle. Neither victim was physically injured.

The suspect is described as an Indigenous male with a heavier build, in his late 20s or about 30 years old, between 5’6” and 5’11” and had been wearing a red sweater, a black hat and a backpack.

This incident is being investigated by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
