Between May 3, 2021, and September 11, 2021, the driver of a sports motorcycle was photographed travelling at high rates of speed by Winnipeg intersection safety cameras on 48 separate occasions.

Speeds captured during this timeframe were on average 39 km/h over the posted limit and included a speed of 180 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. For these 48 incidents, the Provincial Offence Notices issued for speeding alone would total $27,116.

Members of the Traffic Division conducted an extensive investigation and identified a male suspect.

On May 17, 2022, the suspect was located at a residence in the Radisson neighbourhood and placed under arrest. The motorcycle was also located and seized.

A 23-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of:

- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance (Criminal Code)
- Drive carelessly (Highway Traffic Act)
- Speeding (Highway Traffic Act)
- Attach/permit to be attached number plate not authorized (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive Suspended (Highway Traffic Act)

He was released on Appearance Notices (as mandated by the Criminal Code).

Note: The charges reflect offences that cover the entire 48 incidents – this is a typical protocol for multi-offence investigations where similar charges would be laid. The Highway Traffic Act matters were not issued as fines – instead, the accused is required to attend court.
