Update – Homicide Investigation: C24-42921

As previously released, on February 25, 2024, at approximately 11:20 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Maryland Street and Wellington Avenue for the report of an injured male.

Downtown General Patrol officers responded, located the male, and provided emergency medical care. The male was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The deceased was identified as Kevin Delaney FLETT, 26 years old, a member of St. Theresa Point First Nation.

The investigation continued by members of the Homicide Unit. It was determined that the deceased was assaulted with a weapon and sustained a fatal injury.

On June 7, 2024, members of the Winnipeg Police Service arrested Tyron Custer HARPER, 30 years old and charged him with 2nd Degree Murder.

He has been detained in custody.
