On June 5, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers from the Central District, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, responded to the report of an individual waving a firearm inside a suite in the 500 block of William Avenue.

Out of safety for neighbouring residents, the immediate area was cordoned off to pedestrian and vehicle traffic. A male and a female were taken into custody, and a loaded shotgun and ammunition were safely recovered. Nobody else present in the suite was injured.

The male was released with no charges, and a 33-year-old female, Tyrenne Raven THOMAS, was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs

This investigation is continuing by the Firearm Investigative Analysis Section (FIAS).
