On May 30, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a report about the sound of shots in the 300 block of Talbot Avenue.

A couple was at home when an unknown male broke in through a window and wandered around their house, rummaging through property and trying to hide. They managed to escape and realized it was not shots but the smashing sound of him breaking in. They called police and waited in their vehicle from a safe distance.

Officers from the East District, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, arrived and made contact with the suspect, who was still inside. He eventually exited, was taken into custody, and appeared to be intoxicated.

A 23-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of Break & Enter with Intent - Dwelling House and was subsequently released on an Undertaking when sober as per the Criminal Code.
