On April 17, 2024, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a group of youths assaulting a female on the ground in a parking lot at Madison Street and Ness Avenue.

Bystanders called police and reported that a female was being kicked and punched by an individual while other youths were in the background recording the assault on their phones and encouraging the fight.

A 13-year-old victim who was seriously injured and unconscious was located on the ground. The youths fled, and the victim’s backpack was taken.

She was transported to hospital in unstable condition as she had sustained serious head and facial injuries. She was eventually upgraded to stable condition.

The Major Crimes Unit continued the investigation and learned the victim and the suspect were previously known to each other and had attended the area together when the unprovoked assault occurred.

Investigators subsequently identified a suspect and on May 28, 2024, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 700 block of Machray Avenue. A female suspect was taken into custody.

A 15-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing charges of Robbery and Aggravated Assault, and she was been detained in custody.
