In April 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit began investigating separate incidents involving the luring of two female victims in their early-teens.
Investigators determined that between March and April 2024, an adult male used social media to communicate and lure the victims, posing as a 17-year-old male. Through his communication with the victims, the suspect gained the victim’s trust, formed relationships, and subsequently sexually assaulted them.
Investigators identified 22-year-old Kalib Naseeb DEBUSSCHERE of Winnipeg as being involved in the incidents and, on May 14, 2024, arrested him without incident.
DEBUSSCHERE is charged with the following offences:
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Interference x 2
- Luring a Person Under 16 years of age by Means of Telecommunication x 2
He was released on a court order prohibiting contact with individuals under 18, as mandated by the Criminal Code.
