Serial Commercial Robberies – Arrest: C24-778199

Over two days (April 7-9, 2024), the Winnipeg Police Service received reports of several commercial robberies at gas stations and convenience stores along Henderson Highway.

During these robberies, the same masked suspect armed with a knife or indicating he had a knife threatened employees, demanding money and cigarettes at various locations. One victim was seriously assaulted.

1) On April 7, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a gas bar in the 900 block of Henderson Hwy. During the robbery, an employee was stabbed, and the suspect fled on foot, making good his escape with merchandise. The victim, in their 20s, was transported to hospital in unstable condition and upgraded to stable condition.

2) On April 9, at approximately 6:00 a.m., a convenience store in the 1300 block of Henderson Hwy, where merchandise was stolen, and there were no physical injuries to the 19-year-old victim.

3) On April 9, at approximately 9:15 a.m., a convenience store in the 1800 block of Henderson Hwy, where merchandise was stolen, and there were no physical injuries to the victim in their 30s.

4) On April 9, at approximately 9:20 a.m., a fast food restaurant in the 1700 block of Henderson Hwy, where nothing was stolen, and there were no physical injuries to the victim in their

40s.

5) On April 9, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a gas station restaurant in the 1900 block of Henderson Hwy. An employee attempted to hold the door closed to prevent entry, but the accused overpowered him made off with money, and there were no physical injuries to the victim in their 30s.

6) On April 9, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a convenience store in the 1800 block of Henderson Hwy (that he had previously robbed that morning), where money was stolen, and there were no physical injuries to the victim in their 60s.

7) After leaving the last robbery, the accused ran across a grocery store parking lot in the 1700 block of Henderson Hwy, where he confronted a male, demanded his property and attempted to punch and rob him. There were no physical injuries to the victim in his 20s.

A cruiser car searching the area observed the altercation in progress and intervened. The accused fled but was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

He was taken to hospital as it was believed he was under the influence of methamphetamine drugs.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, and 22-year-old Aaron Braiden BEAUPRE of Winnipeg has been charged with 21 offences related to robbery, aggravated assault and weapons.

He was detained in custody.
