On April 9, 2024, at approximately 5:20 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a parking lot in the 700 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway for the report of a carjacking.

Attending West District General Patrol officers located an adult female suspect attempting to flee from the parking lot and placed her under arrest without incident.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and learned two suspects approached an occupied vehicle in the parking lot, pulled the 52-year-old female victim from the vehicle to the ground, and physically proceeded to assault her.

Investigators also learned that shortly before this incident, both suspects approached a 77-year-old victim getting into his vehicle in a nearby parking lot located in the same block. One of the suspects proceeded to assault him while demanding personal property physically and unsuccessfully attempted to pull him from the vehicle. During the assault, the second suspect entered the passenger vehicle, searching for items to steal.

Investigators identified a female youth as the second suspect and, on April 10, arrested her in the 1700 block of Taylor Avenue without incident.

Both victims suffered minor injuries as a result of being assaulted.

A 32-year-old woman and a 15-year-old female youth, both from Winnipeg, are facing two charges of Robbery each and were released on Undertakings as mandated by the criminal code.
