Theft Incidents Investigation – Arrests: E24-2645/R24-14095

Update:

On March 21, 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Property Crime Unit received information from a request for public assistance to locate 44-year-old Lorne Quintin FLETT and 41-year-old Lena Rose ROMERO.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., investigators, after receiving information from the public, arrested both suspects without incident in the 300 block of Boyd Avenue on the strength of the warrants. The child present during some of the incidents has yet to be identified.

In addition to the warrants and previously mentioned incidents, investigators linked  FLETT and ROMERO to additional similar retail theft incidents in March. Both are charged with numerous Theft Under $5,000, Robbery, and Failure to Comply with Order offences regarding their involvement and were detained in custody.

The Property Crime Unit would like to thank the public for their assistance during their investigation.

As previously released:

In January 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Property Crime Unit entered into an investigation regarding an adult male and adult female suspect and a series of retail thefts within the city.

As a result of their investigation, the Property Crime Unit identified the suspects as 44-year-old Lorne Quintin FLETT and 41-year-old Lena Rose ROMERO. A child under 10, believed to be in the suspect’s care, was present during four of the theft incidents.

Theft Incident Synopsis:

- December 6, 2023

  • The suspects attended a retail store in the 800 block of Regent Avenue and stole approximately $250 in products and groceries.

- December 16, 2023

  • The suspects attended a retail store in the 800 block of Regent Avenue and stole approximately $500 in products and groceries.

- January 14, 2024

  • The suspects attended a retail store in the 800 block of Regent Avenue and stole approximately $300 in products and groceries.

- January 18, 2024

  • The suspects attended a retail store in the 800 block of Regent Avenue and stole approximately $250 in products and groceries.

- January 25, 2024

  • The suspects attended a retail store in the 300 block of McPhillips Street and stole approximately $40 in products.

- February 3, 2024

  • The suspects attended a retail store in the 1600 block of Kenaston Boulevard and stole approximately $150 in products and groceries.

- February 12, 2024

  • The suspects attended a retail store in the 1600 block of Kenaston Boulevard and stole approximately $130 in products and groceries.

- February 18, 2024

  • The suspects attended a retail store in the 1600 block of Kenaston Boulevard and stole approximately $75 in products and groceries.

Investigators have obtained warrants of arrest for FLETT and ROMERO regarding the incidents. Investigators are concerned for the child’s wellbeing.
