On March 9, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers from the East District and AIR1 responded to a commercial robbery at a grocery store in the 900 block of Henderson Highway.
A store employee attempted to stop a male and female who stole merchandise and were about to leave. The suspects deployed bear spray at staff and exited the store. Nobody was injured.
They fled in a stolen vehicle and drove at a high rate of speed southbound down Henderson. Coordinated by AIR1, the ground units followed and stopped the vehicle at Burrows and Inskter. Two people were taken into custody, and the merchandise was recovered.
Major Crimes took over the investigation, and a 31-year-old male, Tony PRINCE, has been charged with the following offences:
- Robbery
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 2
- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited Pursuant to Federal or Provincial Act
He was detained in custody.
A 29-year-old female is facing charges of Robbery and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 and was released on an Undertaking.
