Assault with a Weapon – Arrest: C24-54976

Released: March 12, 2024 at 12:05 p.m.

On March 11, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., General Patrol officers from the Central District were flagged down in the 600 block of Main Street by a female who had been stabbed in the neck and was seeking assistance. They provided immediate emergency medical care, and the victim, in her 40s, was transported to hospital in stable condition.

A description of the suspect was provided, and an adult female was located in a hotel suite nearby. Police determined the two parties were not previously known to each other when the accused attended to the victim’s suite, and she was stabbed. 

Marlana Brandi OKEMOW (23) of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with the following offences, and a knife was seized as evidence. 

- Assault with a Weapon

- Possession of a Weapon

- Fail to Comply with Probation x 2

She was detained in custody.
