Assault Peace Officer – Arrest: C24-54776

Released: March 12, 2024 at 11:54 a.m.

On March 11, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of Main Street for the report of an erratic male who had assaulted members of the Community Safety Team.

Attending Central District General Patrol officers met with members of the Community Safety Team who had an adult male in custody. The male was turned over to their custody and placed under arrest without incident.

Through their investigation, officers learned that Safety Officers were summoned to remove an erratic male from a transit bus near Main Street and Graham Avenue. Once the male was safely removed from the transit bus, he immediately walked into traffic, placing himself and motorists in danger. Safety Officers approached the erratic male, who immediately became combative and physically assaulted them in the upper body and attempted to bite them. Safety Officers safely detained the male and waited for police to arrive. Neither Safety Officer required medical attention for injuries sustained during the assault.

Tatipsa Anikeka FONTAINE, 29, of Winnipeg, is charged with 2 counts of Assault Peace Officer. He was also arrested on the strength of an Arrest Warrant in his name for failing to attend court.

He was detained in custody.
