Warning: The following news release contains information that may be disturbing to members of the public.

On December 4, 2023, the Winnipeg Police Service, along with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, attended a residence in the 600 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding an unresponsive infant. The two-month-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Child Abuse Unit entered into an investigation regarding the sudden death of King CAMPBELL-ROSS, two months old.

Autopsy reports have determined that CAMPBELL-ROSS’ death was a result of malnutrition.

The Child Abuse Unit consulted with Manitoba Prosecution Service, which authorized the charge of Manslaughter against the parent.

On February 8, 2024, investigators arrested Alyssa Michelle ROSS, 27, of Winnipeg and charged her with Manslaughter. She has been detained in custody.
