Motor Vehicle Collision – Investigation: C24-28083

On February 6, at approximately 6:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to the report of a serious motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist at the intersection of Pembina Highway and Daly Street North.

Dispatched West District General Patrol officers attended and located an 83-year-old male victim with serious bodily injuries sustained from having been struck by a vehicle. Officers provided emergency medical care to the victim by applying a tourniquet. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he remains.

The investigation determined that the victim was riding his bicycle eastbound on Daly Street North, and as he approached and then crossed Pembina Highway, was struck by a southbound Chevrolet Colorado, resulting in serious bodily injuries. The driver and lone occupant of the involved vehicle remained on scene and spoke with investigating officers.

Members of the Traffic Division have assumed the investigation.
