Commercial Robbery – Arrest: C24-25213

On February 2, 2024, at approximately 1:25 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West for the report of a Commercial Robbery of a Financial Institution.

General Patrol officers from the East District attended and were advised that at approximately 1:10 p.m., a lone suspect entered the bank, presented a note to an employee, indicated he was armed (no weapon seen), and demanded funds. The suspect collected an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the bank in an unknown direction.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation into the incident and identified a male suspect.

On February 4, investigators executed a search warrant at a hotel in the 300 block of Waterfront Drive and arrested the suspect without incident. Officers recovered a quantity of the stolen funds after a search of the room.

 A 65-yr-old male has been charged with Robbery and was detained in custody.
